movin’ on up…

August 6th, 2007

So, we moved house week before last. It was pretty fun, though I was quite sick which made it not so great. We shifted everything on thursday and said goodbye to Lyon Ave. i’m seriously going to miss that place, there were lots of memories, both god and bad there. First night in my new room was not so good. I’ll get a picture of it once it’s a bit cleaner, but it’s bigger than the old one, and at the front of the house, and there’s a working fireplace there, which is uber cool.  There’s only 1 bathroom which is a bit of a bitch but it hasn’t seemed to be too big a problem for me yet. There’s a crazy downstairs with a wall, which is just volcanic rock painted silver. the room also has a disco ball in it. it’s pretty cool.

So nothing else much has happened. School is busy as ever, our plays are being put on in 3 weeks. Luckily I wrote, so I don’t really have to do that much. But Lisa is directing it, so it should be pretty good. There are 7 plays I think in total and they’re on in AUgust. If you want to come, you should. You can book here. And yeah. Things are pretty much same as ever.

you’re not big in my life…

Temposhark feat. Imogen Heap Not That Big (Metromoney Remix) It’s Better To Have Loved

So stuff and nonsense really. There’s not much going on at the moment. In fact, I’ve been too busy only doing school and work to really do anything else. That’s why I haven’t updated this in a while, because nothing has been going on. I’m very, very tired though. Today I fell asleep for most of the day, and had to miss afternoon class because frankly, if I had been there, I would have been asleep. Theatre studies is not that interesting. Though the tutor is a bit of hottie. So yeah, school has been going on. We have 1 more week and then we go on 3 weeks holiday. And all of my Auckland Uni and AUT friends are on holiday already, and I’m still going to school dragging my arse out of bed in the morning to learn about crazy shit. like today for example, we had dance class in the morning. yup. Dance class. I could write about how it is actually relevant to writing/directing but really, dance? Come on. I’ve seen a bunch of movies, including all the current 3rds (Oceans 13*****, Spiderman 3*****, Shrek 3*****, Pirates 3*****). Yup. A few parites, none of which were super memorable. Started dating someone new, which is fun. Ex turns out to be some kind of lunatic all drugging up or whatever, which was whatever worthy. I am getting really sick of what I’m doing at the moment though. I think I have to get out of NZ for a while at least. This place is becoming way too claustrophobic. And it’s FUCKING FREEZING. So yeah. but I’m getting a new car on thursday, which is cool, because not having one was becomming a seriously big deal. She’s pretty close to CJ, but a Corolla, which means she’ll drive forever. In the tradition of West Wing characters, I’ve called her The Ellusive Delores Landingham, or just Mrs. Landingham for short. I painted my nails black for a change, and I’m thinking of colouring my hair black as well. don’t worry, I’m not going emo or anything, I just feel like a change.

Anyways, it’s time to begin the long walk home. sigh.

better, bolder and no longer covered in bees…

Americandollposse.jpg

Well… I was more than a little afraid, but American Doll Posse fucking delivers.

There’s not a lot I can think to say specifically about this album, except it’s damn good.

Tori is certainly less afraid than she was in 2005 with The Beekeper. It seems like she’s no longer worried about just letting loose and going nuts, which she does on more than one occasion. It’s a defviation from her previous piano driven style, with heavy guitar in some songs, especially Teenage Hustling. The first single Big Wheel is good to sing along to, particularly drumming along on the desk/steering wheel to her chants of “gimmie 8, gimmie 7, gimmie 6, gimmie 5 etc…”; as well as “I am an MILF, don’t you forget MILF being very, very fun to yell along to while driving around. The video for this song however leaves much to be desired and is pretty damn boring.
Almost Rosey is a little emo - but good nonetheless. Teenage Hustling isdamn cool, fun to rock out to, and very good for walking/driving. Bouncing Off Clouds is bittersweet and cute, and a good choice for the second single. The only tracks I really don’t like are Father’s Son and Code Red. They’re not very good. Other than that, I can’t see Tori fans being disappointed by what sounds like a fantastic return to form, while not always musically, at least thematically.

Listening to - Tori Amos Bouncing Off Clouds American Doll Posse

So, stuff huh? Well I’m very very tired, first of all. Nothing much has happened in a while. Stephen & I broke up again (I know, you’re all sick of it right. Don’t worry, it’s for good this time) and work and school continues, and there’s nothing much going on. I did find Brodie’s cashflow card at his desk though, and am currently devising a series of clues, each more fiendish than the last to lead him to it. Tori Amos’ new album came out yesterday, and it’s pretty damn cool sounding. It sounds really, really American, hence the name I guess, but it sounds pretty good. Björk’s new album comes out on Friday, so this is a good week music wise.

We made our first actual film things for school last week, so it was incredibly hectic. We had two days to plan, a day to shoot, and a day to edit. So it was pretty full on. Luckily I got to work with Jessie, who is the most awesome girl and my new favourite actress, because she was so cool and just did everything I could have asked for, and now I want to marry her. So yeah, that was cool. If you want to, you can check it out on youtube.

I didn’t go to school today because I was sick. And I missed an important storyboarding class, so it’s going to be a total bitch to catch up on. Also, I didn’t do my homework for the class today. But I can’t do it. We have to draw and I totally cannot draw at all. I am so useless. I kept trying to do it and kept fucking it up so eventually I ran out of paper and just gave up. *sigh*

I went and saw Pan’s Labyrinth. It was pretty cool. I also saw Sunshine, which was surprisingly good. Also Little Miss Sunshine, which was just the coolest thing out. And Crank, which was the best fucking action movie I have seen in a long long time. So yeah, lots of movies, lots of music, read a few books. Oh yeah, I read The Book Thief by Marcus Zusac which was bloody awesome. unfortunately, I cried like a baby at the end, which was a little unsettling. But it was damn good.

Lily had her 21st, which was Alice In Wonderland themed. It was pretty cool, I had a good night. And she’s moving house tomorrow. Also I got invitations for both Lauren’s and Sarah’s 21sts. So that should be cool, though getting to Dunedin is going to be a mission to organise. But whatever, I’ll give Lauren a call and work something out.

Well, I guess I should get back to work. Over and out.

10…

April 9th, 2007

Okay, so in keeping with writing everything, I have spent quite some time tonight trying to get the first draft of my play script done. And it went okay, I got 4 pages into it before I went crazy from overexposure to that story. But in other news, I finished Chapter 10 of the current project. It’s not very good, but I can fix it in post. Right?

March 29, 2007

on being busy…

March 29th, 2007

So I have decided that being busy is no longer a valid excuse for not getting things done. Like writing, for example. I am going to write the fuck out of this novel if it kills me. Both of them, actually. I am going to have made significant progress, and hopefully finished at least one of them by the time the year is up. So there. See we have to do these journal things for school and I thought “When the fuck am I going to have time to go to school and work and write journals and do all the regular homework? But fuck it. Writing is what I’m supposed to be doing, right? So I’m going to fucking write. Everything.

no one knows, so no one tells…

Howdy! It has been some time…

Listening to - Patrick Wolf Overture

I have been mighty busy. That’s my excuse. So some more stuff happened which I can’t really be bothered going into. Anyways, today is Wayne’s Birthday! So that is mega-cool. I’m currently at work while he is organising things for some huge *snort* DnD tournathing he’s going to in Hamiltron or something over easter. Apparently there is going to be lots of Scotch so I guess that’s good. Unless they mean scotch tape. Which while good, is not as good. Not really. But good if your magic cards break or something, I guess you can tape them back together. Urgh School is hard. There are so mny things to do :(
Like yesterday I had to hand in 3 ideas for plays, but they weren’t supposed to just be ideas, they were supposed to be pitches. Like trying to sell them. And mine, as you might be able to guess, weren’t very professional at all. So that sucks big time. And we were supposed to have like this meeting about them today but our tutor had family stuff so there was no class this morning. So I got to school for half of lunch and then went to go to afternoon class and they’re like, “Oh, we’re having issues, afternoon class is cancelled…” So I went in to school for like 30 mins of lunch. Which was not so cool. But I went to work early instead and that’s alright, since I’ve been sick lately I need to get my hours back up.

yes, I am sick. And it is total crapness. I’ve thrown up a couple of times but most of the time it just feels like my stomach is trying to escape my body through my chest. And that sucks majortime. So yeah. And I’m at work and it’s only 8:11 and I should get back to work since I’ve been writing for my whole break. So no ciggie for me :(

Anyways will update more in future hopefully… Just got lots of stuff going on at the moment. But holidays are coming up!

Peace out!

Oh and Erika and I went out for a night on the town on Saturday. It was fucking awesome! So here are a couple of photos we got at the top of Sky Tower.

bird girls go to heaven, bird girls can fly…

March 5th, 2007

Listening to - Antony & The Johnsons I Hope There’s Someone
So some stuff has happened. In the last week or whatever, quite a lot of stuff has happened.

RIP CJ (1989 - 2007)

Cj
My beloved Cj is gone, but so far from forgotten. She died somewhere on state highway 4, about 7 kms south of Raetihi. I miss her so much. but life goes on and the search to find a replacement begins.

There are lots of things I can’t be bothered writing about right now.
If you take a look at the timestamp on this post, you’ll be able to see that the sleep thing hasn’t seemed to resolve itself yet. So we’re still waiting for that to happen.

Unitec began and kept going. I’ve survived 2 weeks now, and it’s going pretty well. there are some hellishly boring classes, but some of the others are very very cool. It’s good having Lisa there. i went to see Panda Death Squad play tonight and they were cool as usual, if a little short. Working nights is okay, there are less distractions, but it is pretty lonely, and the big long uni-work days are a bit of a killer. It’s going to be hard adjusting to the half as much money thing but I think I’ll cope. Went to a few parties. The new Family sucks, there is just nothing there for me anymore. Don’t think I’ll be going clubbing for a while. I saw Shortbus today. It was pretty cool. Not the best movie I have ever seen, but yeah, it was pretty cool. Jamie is dating or not dating this boy called Baden. It’s a neat name. We had nachos for dinner tonight. Jaxie got preggers! OMG! I am going to have a rock child! I’m calling it RockJunior! It is so cool, even though right now it makes her not like mushrooms and be tired all the time. I haven’t seen Lily in ages which sucks, will have to get together but I don’t have heaps of time at the moment which is totally lame. Dad turned 52, which was interesting. There was cake and everything. Min went away to the coromandel. I listened to a lot of music, and leaned to type well while staring at the ceiling. There’s not much else I can think of right now. I need to write some reviews of some cool stuff but I am more than a little sick of writing right now. Even though that’s like what I’m supposed to be doing for the next 3 years. There are a few good concerts coming up, so might check out some live acts which is cool because I don’t really go to enough. Deep Hard & Funky is happening soon enough so I might go to that, though I am supposed to be saving for a new car. I am sick, and it’s not going away which is totally lame. I haven’t seen Rhys except for a little bit on Thursday which is lame because I like him and I should remember to text him tomorrow, because I don’t think he would appreciate it right now.

and that’s me.

in tea and cigarettes…

February 21st, 2007

So, Unitec started yesterday. And that was fun.it was a pretty tiring day. Surprisingly, since we didn’t really do anything. We had a Powhiri, which was interesting enough. Then there was a big lunch thing where Lisa and I sat around waiting for something to happen. And then we asked questions and got told that we shouldn’t want to be directors. And then we got a tour of the campus and were told why everyone hates directors :\ The tour was fun though, the girls who took Lisa and me around were awesome, and they invited us for a drink at the bar afterwards, which was fun

And today we didn’t do much of anything either. It was only a half day, and I just realised how boring it would be to write about it.

So i’m stopping.
